1993 the 23-year-old austrian soldier Helmut R. joins the croatian army as a mercenary in the war in Yugoslavia. 15 years later he describes his experiences in the crisis area and the motives to voluntarily perform military service. Cinematically entirely focused on the protagonist a unembellished picture of military reality and violence conveyed beyond fining or mere glorification.
